Gaia

New exhibition in Trondheim today. A new center is opening and they wanted me to exhibit some of my work there, together with a very talented girl at 19. I am really glad to see that younger people also get lost in the art of painting. Her name is Vilde Hage Aune, feel free to google her if you havent seen any of her work yet, think we gonna see a lot of her in the future.

The new center is called Gaia, and you can see more info about this place if you click here.   Talked a lot yesterday with some of the people working there, and I have to agree on that we live in very special times. I have a  firm beliefe in that we are very able to control our on life and our destiny. But we seem to be so afraid to break loose from the shackles thats holding us back. One thing is the feedback we get from the people around us, but worse is the guilt we manage to put on ourself. The phenomena “Janteloven” still seems to be pretty strong, here in Norway anyways.

I think you have responsibility for one person in your life, and thats you! “Well isnt that egotistic” some would say, but I’m afraid I dont think so, I would rather say that you are using your selfconsciousness. The more you are enjoying your life, the more the people around you will enjoy you and your company. And when it comes to our children, I had a wakeup call when I read Khalil Gibrans; The prophet, some years ago. First time I read it I felt sad, but before I finished it I understood the meaning of it, and its ever so true. If we worry to much about our children, we might actually be the ones able to hurt them, even though thats not our goal at all.

Dont think it will hurt anybody else to read it either, so I’m posting it here.

“And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said, “Speak to us of Children. “And he said: Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself. They come through you but not from you, And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you. You may give them your love but not your thoughts. For they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls, for their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday. You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.  The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far. Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness; For even as he loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.”

A lot of wisdom in that book, so if you havent read it, please do, a lot of timeless thoughts and wisdom in there, hope it will give you as much as it gave me.

Enjoy this wonderful day to the fullest, its never coming back.

Kenneth

P.s. Got a tip from someone on facebook, few years ago there was an article about me and the painting in a magasin called Visjon, and they actually put it out on the net. Was fun to read it again, you can find it here if you are interested.
