The Resurrection

“The resurrection” came to life from an idea I had about the lost land of Atlantis: myth or reality? Does it really matter? We live in a time where we, as a species, are going through great changes on many levels, both internally and externally. This is an exciting time.

My intention behind the creation of the ‘rise’ of Atlantis, was to create a phoenix like being to encourage an open minded viewpoint about the myth of Atlantis, rather than a realistic interpretation of the ancient lost land. Looking through history, it seems like it all started with Plato’s thoughts about: a community that consisted of people that gathered in groups through their interests and talents, and therefore would be content. As a result, the people would not consider breaking the unwritten laws of peace and harmony.

Speaking about Atlantis, the phrase unconditional love comes into my mind. The phoenix supposedly rose from the ashes, but I wanted ‘my phoenix’ to rise from the water, representing emotions. Instead of creating a separation of the symbolic meaning behind the phoenix, I wanted the two characters to be connected somehow, by letting the creature in my painting, hold ‘waterflames’ in his hands, letting fire melt down into the water.

I believe that opposites don’t have to exclude each other, but rather make room for new connections. Like day and night, life and death, yin and yang: one cannot exist without the other. Although, through the power of unconditional love, we don’t have to worry about what separates us, but rather on what is bringing us together.

Still, it pleases me very much too see that other people get different experiences about my paintings, through their eyes. Lesley Coxton from the PaintingsIlove gallery wrote; “KENNETH I LOVE IT!!!! Jesus rose again, piercing the darkness of death for us. All we have to do is believe it, receive it & live it. HA! He brings healing in His wings for us, the fire of the spirit, the living waters of life & the pearl of great price. He IS all these things & more. When we have been tried we shall come forth as gold. Amazing, now I’m Happy. Impeccable work, Breathtaking. Many, many blessings, His face is shining on you” Lesley,Cambridge. UK”.

This is feedback that really makes the long hours of painting, planning, trying, thinking, experimenting worthwhile.

But, don’t let my words take away your own experience from the painting you are viewing. Instead, add my words to your own experience if you would like to do so. Let’s create room for sharing our experiences, feelings and happiness.

Love is the solution, if there ever was a problem

Have a nice day and enjoy your stay here.
